Scholarships


THE PROPERTIES SPORTS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS: 2012   

PURPOSE
The PSA Scholarship Fund has been established to encourage the pursuit of further education. The scholarship provides a one time financial award to an eligible current or former PSA registrant at an approved Post Secondary Educational Institute.
 
AWARDS
Awards will be determined annually by the PSA Scholarship Committee and PSA Board of Directors to a maximum allocation of $3000.00 per year.
  • Awards in the amount of $1000.00 are presented to full time post secondary students
     
  • Awards in the amount of $ 500.00 are presented to part time post secondary students

 
STRUCTURE
The Scholarship Review Committee will consist of the Scholarship Director and up to three (3) PSA members. The committee will be responsible for reviewing the applications and selecting those applicants that best fulfill the eligibility requirements. The committee will make their recommendations to the PSA Board of Directors for final approval.
 
Scholarships to be awarded once per year and the successful applicant must attend the Annual PSA Volunteer Appreciation Banquet to receive the award.
 
All Cheques will be made payable to the Post Secondary Institution and not the recipient.
 
ELIGIBILITY
  • The applicant must have graduated in June 2007 or after.
     
  • Players must apply within three (3) years of graduation from high school
     
  • The Applicant must have played for a minimum of four (4) full seasons with PSA
     
  • The Applicant has maintained good standing and fulfilled obligations and expectations as established by both the teams played for and on behalf of the association.
     
  • The Applicant has demonstrated good sportsmanship and conduct on the teams played for
     
  • The Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum course load as defined as fulltime or part time within a Post Secondary Institute including a trade or apprenticeship program.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  1. The Applicant must complete the PSA Scholarship application:
    1. Official High School Transcripts must be provided
       
    2. Proof of enrollment and acceptance at a Post Secondary Institution
       
    3. The Applicant must submit a one page biography which includes the following information:
      1. Background information which may include family information, scholastic achievements, career intentions, hobbies, goals, volunteer activities and any other information you may wish to shareYour contributions to PSA, the teams played for and any awards, recognition or achievements
         
    4. Players must submit at least one letter of reference from a teacher, coach, PSA Member or employers
    1. TIMELINE
      All applications must be completed and turned into the PSA Office no later than March 15 each year.
